Entering in God’s Presence -The Pattern of the Tabernacle
The first (old) testament is so rich and prophetic that we should study and learn more through it. According to the pattern of the Tabernacle of Moses, there are some steps we can follow in order to approach God’s Presence. You can find the description of the Tabernacle of Moses on Exodus from chapter 25 to 30.

1st step – Confession of our sins 1John 1.9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
2nd step – Supplication Philippians 4.6,7 – do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Messiah Yeshua.
Worries and anxiety prevent us from entering in His Presence. If we share our requests and worries, and be thankful for what He has done, we may receive His peace to do His will and be used by Him.
These 2 steps are essential in order to go to the next steps, to go deeper in His Presence. We must be forgiven and cleansed in order to be “accepted” by Him.
3rd step – Inviting the Holy Spirit
Ephesians 5.18,19 – And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart.
The book of Psalms is a wonderful pattern we can follow to learn how to enter in God’s Presence. We can declare them, sing them (hymns) or create our own psalms.
“Making melody to the Lord with your hearts” could be the spontaneous worship that comes from our soul to our father and beloved groom.
“Spiritual songs” could mean singing in the spirit, in tongues.
It is important to understand the gift of speaking/ praying/ singing in the spirit. Let us read some verses:
Mark 16.17 – And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues
1 Corinthians 14.4 The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself
Jude 1.20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit
1 Co 14,18 – I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.
1 Co 14. 13, 14, 15 – For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful. What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind also.
When we pray in tongues we get more sensitive to His Presence.
Table of Shewbread
4th step – Reading / Declaring / Singing the Word of God
John 6.35 – Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
1 Timothy 4.6 – 6 If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed.
Mathew 4.4 – But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Jeremiah 15.16 – Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O Lord, God of hosts.
A very important practice is the meditation on the Word of God.
Meditating is to go over in the mind repeatedly. This practice is like ruminating, the cows chew again what was chewed slightly and swallowed before. When we meditate on His Word, the Spirit will bring revelation and we will pray according to the revelation received. That is why we feel to sing or declare only one verse during half an hour for example, because this way we meditate and receive revelation from Him.
Altar of incense
5th step – Intercession
Revelation 5.8 – And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
The cohen haGadol (High Priest) would come to this place carrying the 12 tribes on his chest (the breastplate) and interceding on behalf of his people. We should do the same as we are called priests by Him.
Holy of Holies
Ark of the Covenant
6th step – Intimacy
This is the moment we enjoy His Presence and receive His touch and ministry. This is the time for intimacy with the Lord. At this point we don’t do much, but rather receive from Him.
“You have captivated my heart, my sister, my bride; you have captivated my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace.
How beautiful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much better is your love than wine, and the fragrance of your oils than any spice!”
* These steps are not supposed to be a formula or to put us in a box but help us have more revelation of His beauty and holiness, also to have a deeper understanding of His ways and His love for us through Messiah Yeshua.
