Introduction
This teaching is focused on equipping the Church so that it knows how to pray and bless Israel. You have been called to such a time as this! (Esther 4:14)
Purim is the feast that celebrates the miracle of God’s deliverance for the Jewish people in Persia in the reign of Achashverosh (Ahasuerus) between the years 485 and 465 B.C. These events are reported in the biblical book of Esther.
Summary
Purim (פּוּרִים)
The Hebrew term Purim is the plural of “pur” which means lot, (lottery, casting lots). Pur and Purim appear 7 times in the book of Esther.
Esther 9:26a
‘So they called these days Purim, after the name Pur.
Esther 3:7
‘In the first month, which is the month of Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Ahasuerus, they cast Pur (that is, the lot), before Haman to determine the day and the month, until it fell on the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar.’
Esther 9:24
‘because Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had plotted against the Jews to annihilate them, and had cast Pur (that is, the lot), to consume them and destroy them; ‘
The enemy was playing sorcery against our people. Our enemies use the spiritual powers of darkness to attack us. We can see this, in the story of Balak and Balaam:
Numbers 22:1-6
Then the children of Israel moved, and camped in the plains of Moab on the side of the Jordan across from Jericho. Now Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. And Moab was exceedingly afraid of the people because they were many, and Moab was sick with dread because of the children of Israel. So Moab said to the elders of Midian, “Now this company will lick up everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field.” And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time. Then he sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor at Pethor, which is near the River in the land of the sons of his people, to call him, saying: “Look, a people has come from Egypt. See, they cover the face of the earth, and are settling next to me! Therefore please come at once, curse this people for me, for they are too mighty for me. Perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land, for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.”
The enemy was afraid of our people (actually of the God of Israel) and therefore needed the forces of darkness to overcome us.
When we look at what Hamas did on October 7, 2023, we wonder if they were men or demons, killing, dismembering, and burning babies. In addition to believing in a religion of death, they used heavy drugs, which opened portals to demons. The war we are experiencing today in Israel needs to be won first in the spiritual world, because we are dealing with principalities, powers, and rulers of this world. Besides that, our enemies use lying propaganda.
In light of this, we will make a prophetic statement:
Isaiah 28:15-18
Because you (HAMAS) have said, “We have made a covenant with death, And with Sheol we are in agreement. When the overflowing scourge passes through, It will not come to us, For we have made lies our refuge, And under falsehood we have hidden ourselves.” A Cornerstone in Zion
Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily. Also I will make justice the measuring line, And righteousness the plummet; The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, And the waters will overflow the hiding place. Your covenant with death will be annulled, And your agreement with Sheol will not stand; When the overflowing scourge passes through, Then you will be trampled down by it.
Esther 9:16-18
The remainder of the Jews in the king’s provinces gathered together and protected their lives, had rest from their enemies, and killed seventy-five thousand of their enemies; but they did not lay a hand on the plunder. This was on the thirteenth day of the month of Adar. And on the fourteenth of the month they rested and made it a day of feasting and gladness. But the Jews who were at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth day, as well as on the fourteenth; and on the fifteenth of the month they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.
This year – Esther’s fast will be from dawn to sunset on March 13th. Purim will be celebrated from sunset on March 13 to sunset on March 14. In Jerusalem it will also be celebrated on March 15 (Shushan Purim).
Esther 9:22
‘as the days on which the Jews had rest from their enemies, as the month which was turned from sorrow to joy for them, and from mourning to a holiday; that they should make them days of feasting and joy, of sending presents to one another and gifts to the poor. ‘
– fasting on the 13th of Adar
– reading of Megilat (roll of) Esther. While reading, whenever we mention Haman’s name, we make noise to erase his name!
– Mishloach Manot – sending baskets of food and gifts to the needy people, as a sign of joy, sharing in the freedom provided by the GOD who does not leave the throne!
– use of costumes – masks are removed at the end, to reveal who is who, as happened in the story with Haman.
– eating the pastry called oznei Haman (Haman’s ears).
Esther 9:27-28
‘the Jews established and imposed it upon themselves and their descendants and all who would join them, that without fail they should celebrate these two days every year, according to the written instructions and according to the prescribed time, that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city, that these days of Purim should not fail to be observed among the Jews, and that the memory of them should not perish among their descendants.’
God always commands us to minister to the next generation, teaching them at all times:
Psalm 78:1-7
Give ear, O my people, to my law; Incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old, which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done. For He established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children; That the generation to come might know them, the children who would be born, that they may arise and declare them to their children, that they may set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments;
2. To inform the world, educate the world
At universities today, we hear terrible lies that have deceived our children:
“Holocaust did not exist….”
“The land of Israel belongs to the Palestinian people. The Jews colonized them”
3. To prophesy about the present and future
As we taught on the holiday of Hanukkah, there was Antiochus, here it was Haman, later there was Hitler, all of whom are types of anti-Messiahs. We need to learn how our people resisted, the remnants, how they remained in these times of difficulty and prepare ourselves for what is to come. This is also for the Church, not just for Israel.
Haman the Agagite
Esther 3:1
‘After these things King Ahasuerus promoted Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him and set his seat above all the princes who were with him. ‘
Agagite is a descendant of King Agag who appears in 1 Samuel 15:7-8a:
‘And Saul attacked the Amalekites, from Havilah all the way to Shur, which is east of Egypt. He also took Agag king of the Amalekites…
Haman was a descendant of Amalek. Let’s see what God says about Amalek:
Exodus 17:14-16
‘Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this for a memorial in the book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.” And Moses built an altar and called its name, The- Lord -Is-My-Banner; for he said, “Because the Lord has sworn: the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.”’
The next biblical passage about Amalek was read in synagogues around the world on Shabbat Zachor, the Sabbath of Remembrance, the Sabbath that precedes the Feast of Purim:
Deuteronomy 25:17-19
‘“Remember what Amalek did to you on the way as you were coming out of Egypt, how he met you on the way and attacked your rear ranks, all the stragglers at your rear, when you were tired and weary; and he did not fear God. Therefore, it shall be, when the Lord your God has given, you rest from your enemies all around, in the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance, that you will blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. You shall not forget.’
That is why this feast is so timely and important to be remembered not only by Israel and the Jews but also by the Church in the nations. The spirit of Amalek was in Haman and also in the Nazis. Today it is present through the Islamic religion, in the terrorists who attack Israel on a daily basis.
“In the last two years, there has been a dramatic increase in the scope of terrorist attacks in Judea and Samaria.”
It is important to call the region known as the West Bank as “Judea and Samaria”. This is the name that God gives to these regions, where many biblical events were consummated:
(among others…)
According to data from the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), 6,828 terrorist attacks were carried out in 2024 (an average of 18 per day) (including throwing stones and Molotov cocktails), double the number of attacks in 2023, with 3,436 attacks.
Are we fulfilling God’s command today and blotting out the remembrance of Amalek from under the heavens? Or are we sparing Agag as Saul did?
1 Samuel 15:2-3,9
‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he ambushed him on the way when he came up from Egypt. Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’ ”’
‘But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, and all that was good, and were unwilling to utterly destroy them. But everything despised and worthless, that they utterly destroyed.’
The Church needs to understand this so that it can pray wisely!
ונהפוך הוא – Ve Naafoch hu – And this was reversed! The opposite of what was expected happened
The turnaround happens a few times on the book of Esther:
A) Haman thinks he will be honored by the king but ends up being humiliated
Esther 6:6-10
So Haman came in, and the king asked him, “What shall be done for the man whom the king delights to honor?” Now Haman thought in his heart, “Whom would the king delight to honor more than me?” And Haman answered the king, “For the man whom the king delights to honor, let a royal robe be brought which the king has worn, and a horse on which the king has ridden, which has a royal crest placed on its head. Then let this robe and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that he may array the man whom the king delights to honor. Then parade him on horseback through the city square, and proclaim before him: ‘Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!’ ”Then the king said to Haman, “Hurry, take the robe and the horse, as you have suggested, and do so for Mordecai the Jew who sits within the king’s gate! Leave nothing undone of all that you have spoken.”
The enemy was put to shame! We have to pray that this will happen to our enemies today and that they will no longer prepare the stage of Satan in Gaza, as Hamas has done, bringing humiliation upon our people!
B) Haman is hanged on the gallows that he himself prepared
Esther 7:9-10
‘Now Harbonah, one of the eunuchs, said to the king, “Look! The gallows, fifty cubits high, which Haman made for Mordecai, who spoke good on the king’s behalf, is standing at the house of Haman.” Then the king said, “Hang him on it!” So, they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king’s wrath subsided.’
Our King’s wrath must also be subsided through the vengeance on Amalek!
Nahum 1.2
‘God is jealous, and the Lord avenges; The Lord avenges and is furious. The Lord will take vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath for His enemies;’
The war, is not ultimately against Israel, it is against the Lord and His Anointed One (Yeshua):
Psalm 2:1-5
Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure.
C) Those who came to destroy the Jews were destroyed
Esther 9:1
‘Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month of Adar, on the thirteenth day, the time came for the king’s command and his decree to be executed. On the day that the enemies of the Jews had hoped to overpower them, the opposite occurred, in that the Jews themselves overpowered those who hated them. ‘
Esther 8:10-11
‘And he wrote in the name of King Ahasuerus, sealed it with the king’s signet ring, and sent letters by couriers on horseback, riding on royal horses bred from swift steeds. By these letters the king permitted the Jews who were in every city to gather together and protect their lives—to destroy, kill, and annihilate all the forces of any people or province that would assault them, both little children and women, and to plunder their possessions, ‘
Even today the King of Kings gives us the right to defense, through the attack and destruction of those who try to destroy us. There is no one who can cancel the decree sealed by the ring of the King of Israel!
There is no leader, people, nation, UN or (Hague Tribunal – International War Crimes Tribunal that issued an arrest warrant for our Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu) who can stop the decree (“I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven!“)
607 BC – King Nebuchadnezzar – Siege of Jerusalem and Babylonian Exile begins (Jeremiah 52:4-5)
586 BC – First Temple destroyed (2 Kings 25)
537 BC – Persian king Cyrus conquers the Babylonian Empire and issues a decree for the return of the Jewish people to Israel and the rebuilding of the Temple. About 50,000 Jews set out on the First Return (Aliyah – ascent) to the Land of Israel, led by Zerubbabel, a descendant of the House of David, Yoshua, Zechariah, and others. The construction of the 2nd Temple begins.
522-486 BC – Darius I – divides the empire into provinces – Shushan is the capital.
485 BC – beginning of the reign of Achashverosh (Ahasuerus, or Xerxes, son of Darius I) – History of Purim – (book of Esther)
Esther 1:1-3:
‘Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus (this was the Ahasuerus who reigned over one hundred and twenty-seven provinces, from India to Ethiopia), in those days when King Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Shushan the citadel, that in the third year of his reign he made a feast for all his officials and servants—the powers of Persia and Media, the nobles, and the princes of the provinces being before him— ‘
458 BC – 2nd Aliyah through Ezra. 1754 men plus women and children return.
445 BC – 3rd Aliyah with Nehemiah – rebuilding of Jerusalem walls.
Reason for Exile
We read in Leviticus 18:25 about the reason why the Lord exiled us more than once from the land of Israel:
‘For the land is defiled; therefore, I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants. ‘
This is because the earth belongs to Him alone:
Psalm 24:1
‘The earth is the Lord ’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein.’
God warned Jeremiah that the Babylonian Exile would last 70 years:
Jeremiah 25:12
‘‘Then it will come to pass, when seventy years are completed, that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, the land of the Chaldeans, for their iniquity,’ says the Lord; ‘and I will make it a perpetual desolation. ‘
Aliyah after the Babylonian Exile
Aliyah is a Hebrew word that means ascent, as we read in Psalms: “song of ascent (to Jerusalem)”, because it is located on the mountains. Aliyah is the term used for the return of our people to the land of our forefathers.
Let’s read about the Decree of the Persian King Cyrus in 537 B.C.:
Ezra 1:1-4
‘Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying, thus says Cyrus king of Persia: All the kingdoms of the earth the Lord God of heaven has given me. And He has commanded me to build Him a house at Jerusalem which is in Judah. Who is among you of all His people? May his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord God of Israel (He is God), which is in Jerusalem. And whoever is left in any place where he dwells, let the men of his place help him with silver and gold, with goods and livestock, besides the freewill offerings for the house of God which is in Jerusalem.’
How tremendous to see a pagan ruler acknowledging that all that he has, was given by the hands of the God of Israel! Cyrus heard and obeyed the voice of God concerning the people of Israel. He called on our people to return since the time of exile was over.
Let us pray for more such leaders today, who will listen to God’s voice, call on and support the Jewish people to return to Israel.
It is estimated that there were about a million Jews in captivity (formerly the Babylonian Empire and at the time of Cyrus, the Persian Empire). Unfortunately, only about 50,000 obeyed God and returned after Cyrus’ decree. It is because of this disobedience that there were still Jews living in Persia at the time of Esther and Mordechai.
Let’s read the speech of our enemy Haman about our people:
Esther 3:8-9
‘Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a certain people scattered and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of your kingdom; their laws are different from all other people’s, and they do not keep the king’s laws. Therefore, it is not fitting for the king to let them remain. If it pleases the king, let a decree be written that they be destroyed, and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver into the hands of those who do the work, to bring it into the king’s treasuries.”’
According to Haman, our people were scattered and dispersed. Unfortunately, even today, our people are scattered and dispersed!
The State of Israel has been re-established since 1948, but how many Jews still live in the diaspora?
According to 2022 statistics, Jewish population represents only 0.2% of the world’s population. A little more than half of the world’s Jewish population still lives in the Diaspora. According to God’s Word in Ezekiel 39:28, they live in the “captivity” of the Nations.

The Prophet Jabotinsky
Ze’ev Jabotinsky (1880 – 1940) was a Zionist leader born in Odessa, Russia.
Jabotinsky was most pessimistic about the continuation of Jewish life in the Diaspora. At the Hatzach (New Zionist Organization) Conference held in Warsaw, on June 13, 1936, he clearly raised the idea of “Evacuation” – mass removal of Jews from Europe.
Following the Nazi rise to power (1933), Jabotinsky did not spare any effort to advocate this idea, whose objective was to rescue Jews.
He called on the Jews to eliminate the Diaspora, primarily in Europe, by removal: “If you won’t eliminate the Diaspora – the Diaspora will eliminate you.” The issue of Aliyah became the existential matter of the Jewish people.

On the anniversary of Tisha B’Av (August 1938), Jabotinsky said:
It is already three years that I am calling upon you, Polish Jewry, who are the crown of world Jewry. I continue to warn you incessantly that a catastrophe is coming closer. I became grey and old in these years. My heart bleeds, that you, dear brothers and sisters, do not see the volcano which will soon begin to spit its all-consuming lava. I see that you are not seeing this because you are immersed and sunk in your daily worries. Today, however, I demand from you trust. You were convinced already that my prognoses have already proven to be right. If you think differently, then drive me out of your midst! However, if you do believe me, then listen to me in this 12th hour: In the name of God! Let anyone of you save himself as long as there is still time. And time there is very little…and what else I would like to say to you in this day of Tisha B’Av: whoever of you will escape from the catastrophe, he or she will live to see the exalted moment of a great Jewish wedding: the rebirth and the rise of a Jewish state. I don’t know if I will be privileged to see it; my son will! I believe in this as I am sure that tomorrow morning the sun will rise.

During the Nazi occupation, Poland lost 20% of its population, or six million people, including three million Jews (90% of the country’s Jewish population). God raises up his prophets!
Queen Esther typifies the intercessory bride
Esther’s original name was Hadassah, from the word hadas meaning myrtle.
Myrtle is a symbol of blooming in the desert, as we read in:
Isaiah 55:13
‘Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree; And it shall be to the Lord for a name, For an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.”’
Hadassa was a Jewish woman who flourished in a pagan palace in a foreign land.
The name Esther (אֶסְתֵּר) derives from the Hebrew word ‘satar’ (סָתַר), which means to contradict, refute and also derives from the word “seter” which means secret, mystery, hiding place. Mordechai, her cousin, asked her not to reveal her Jewish identity, this was hidden until the appropriate moment.
The word scroll (megilah – מגילה), derives from the verb “legalot” which means to discover.
Let’s read some passages about the process that Esther went through in the palace and bring it into our context as Yeshua’s Bride.
Esther 2:8,12,13, 15,17
‘So it was, when the king’s command and decree were heard, and when many young women were gathered at Shushan the citadel, under the custody of Hegai, that Esther also was taken to the king’s palace, into the care of Hegai the custodian of the women. ‘
‘Each young woman’s turn came to go in to King Ahasuerus after she had completed twelve months’ preparation, according to the regulations for the women, for thus were the days of their preparation apportioned: six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with perfumes and preparations for beautifying women. ‘
‘Now when the turn came for Esther the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her as his daughter, to go in to the king, she requested nothing but what Hegai the king’s eunuch, the custodian of the women, advised. And Esther obtained favor in the sight of all who saw her. ‘
‘The king loved Esther more than all the other women, and she obtained grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins; so he set the royal crown upon her head and made her queen instead of Vashti. ‘
Myrrh
Esther underwent purification with myrrh oil for six months. The myrrh tree is thorny and when the trunk is wounded in its bark, it releases a liquid, like tears – it is a symbol of pain.
Myrrh is one of the components of the holy oil of the Tabernacle. It is connected with death, it was used for embalming. Nicodemus and others used myrrh in preparing Yeshua’s body for his burial.
We see here the importance of the death of our self – not only personal but also national repentance. Nehemiah in chapter 1 and Daniel in chapter 9, teach us to pray confessing not only our sin but the sin of our nation.
Here in Israel, we have always confessed and asked God for forgiveness for the sins of our people. One of these sins is the sin of abortion, which has greatly displeased the Father’s heart.
Hegai – symbol of the Holy Spirit
Hegai was the king’s eunuch, the custodian of the women, responsible for adorning them to meet king Achashverosh. Hegai is a symbol of the Spirit of God, who adorns us with holiness and gifts that come from Above.
Esther demanded nothing more than what Hegai indicated her to wear in the meeting with the king. The Spirit knows exactly what we need in each season, much more than we do.
Perfumes – Yeshua’s fragrance in us
After the purification with myrrh, Esther received the perfumes.
After we die to self, we receive the aroma of our Bridegroom Yeshua!
Psalm 45:7-8
‘You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions. All Your garments are scented with myrrh and aloes and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, by which they have made You glad.’
2 Corinthians 2.14-15
‘Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Messiah, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Messiah among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. ‘
2. The Bride is brought before the king
Psalm 45:13-14
‘The royal daughter is all glorious within the palace; Her clothing is woven with gold. She shall be brought to the King in robes of many colors; The virgins, her companions who follow her, shall be brought to You.’
Song of Solomon 1:4
‘Draw me away! We will run after you. The king has brought me into his chambers. We will be glad and rejoice in you. We will remember your love more than wine. Rightly do they love you.’
Song of Solomon 1.12
As the king sits at his table, my spikenard exhales its perfume.
3. The Bride becomes a Queen
Psalm 23:5
‘You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.’
In the Tanach, (first testament) kings and priests were anointed with oil. That’s what happened to Esther, God prepared a table for her before her enemy and she was anointed to reign and win!
2 Timothy 2:11-12
‘This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him. If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.’
Revelation 20:4
‘And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Messiah for a thousand years. ‘
That is our destiny, but we already reign today, just as Esther did, being purified, adorned, brought into His presence, and interceding before the King.
Esther 4:13-16
‘And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai: “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!”’
Esther 5:1-3
‘Now it happened on the third day that Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the king’s palace, across from the king’s house, while the king sat on his royal throne in the royal house, facing the entrance of the house. So it was, when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, that she found favor in his sight, and the king held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. Then Esther went near and touched the top of the scepter. And the king said to her, “What do you wish, Queen Esther? What is your request? It shall be given to you—up to half the kingdom!”’
Esther, at the banquet she served, did not speak to Haman, but to the king. She did not use her own justice, but the sentence, the judgment came from the king himself, since she found grace and favor before him. We must declare the King’s Words against the enemy, not our own. That’s why knowing the scriptures well and praying God’s Word is a powerful weapon!
Mordechai’s Fear
Because of Haman, a whole empire was against Mordechai and our people. Letters were sent to 127 provinces commanding them to destroy us. Nevertheless, Mordechai’s fear of the Lord later turned into the fear that fell on the people of Persia, everyone was afraid of Mordechai and our people. Even the officials of the provinces began to help our people.
Esther 9:2-4
‘The Jews gathered together in their cities throughout all the provinces of King Ahasuerus to lay hands on those who sought their harm. And no one could withstand them, because fear of them fell upon all people. And all the officials of the provinces, the satraps, the governors, and all those doing the king’s work, helped the Jews, because the fear of Mordecai fell upon them. For Mordecai was great in the king’s palace, and his fame spread throughout all the provinces; for this man Mordecai became increasingly prominent. ‘
The interesting thing is that the first decree was not canceled. The king did not stop the people from coming to attack us, but we had to battle! So it is with us, as believers in Yeshua. He died for us, but we have to battle and overcome the enemy every day!
Banquets and Change of Government
There are four banquets reported in the book of Esther:
At three of these banquets, we see a change in Persia’s government. Vashti falls from the position of queen, Esther is exalted to the position of queen, Haman falls from the position of official of the king, and Mordechai rises to the government.
Daniel 2:20-22
‘Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, And light dwells with Him.’
We have been praying for Israel’s government based on Zechariah 9:13:
‘For I have bent Judah, my bow, Fitted the bow with Ephraim, and raised up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece, And made you like the sword of a mighty man.”’
The children of Greece follow humanism, they have their focus on men. The children of Zion have their focus on the God of Israel. Let us pray for the removal of the children of Greece and the establishment of the children of Zion in positions of authority and government of our nations.
Amalek on Hitler and the Jewish Identity
At the time of the Second World War, the Jewish people were assimilated into Europe, their Jewish identity was deadened. The People did not seek God and lived like other nations.
Let us read about what Hitler said about our people:
The Ten Commandments have lost their vitality. Conscience is a Jewish invention; it is a blemish, like circumcision.
Furthermore, Hitler knew that the Jewish threat to his ideals is embodied in every single Jew. He said:
If only one country, for whatever reason, tolerates a Jewish family in it, that family will become the germ center for fresh sedition. If one little Jewish boy survives without any Jewish education, with no synagogue and no Hebrew school, it [Judaism] is in his soul. The Jewish spirit, Hitler explained, is the product of the Jewish person. Destroying their holy places alone would not be enough. In Hitler’s words: Even had there never existed a synagogue or a Jewish school or the Old Testament, the Jewish spirit would still exist and would exert its influence. It has been there from the beginning, and there is no Jew ― not a single one ― who does not personify it.
The evil of Hitler lay not in his understanding of who the Jewish people are. His evil grew from his reactions to that understanding. Ironically, Hitler had a clearer understanding of who the Jewish people are, and what they have accomplished, than many Jews have today.
God reminds us about our identity in the midst of pain. If you are going through a crisis, maybe God is trying to remind you who you are, what your identity is!
Hamas on October 7 reminded us that there was not only a breach in the Gaza fence for them to invade Israel, but there was a spiritual breach because we haven’t lived as a holy nation before Him.
Exodus 19:6
‘And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”’
Let’s read the report of Eli Sharabi, kidnapped by Hamas, but recently released:
“I’m not a religious person, but there, from the first day I was kidnapped, every morning I said ‘Shema Yisrael,’ which I never said in my life. The power of faith is insane. There’s something watching over you.”
Purim 1946 – Queen Esther’s prophecy
Esther 9:12-14
‘And the king said to Queen Esther, “The Jews have killed and destroyed five hundred men in Shushan the citadel, and the ten sons of Haman. What have they done in the rest of the king’s provinces? Now what is your petition? It shall be granted to you. Or what is your further request? It shall be done.” Then Esther said, “If it pleases the king, let it be granted to the Jews who are in Shushan to do again tomorrow according to today’s decree, and let Haman’s ten sons be hanged on the gallows.” So the king commanded this to be done; the decree was issued in Shushan, and they hanged Haman’s ten sons.’
In this passage, the king tells Esther that Haman’s sons had been killed. Why would Esther ask for the hanging of men who were already dead? Was she prophesying to the distant future when such events should be processed?
In Esther 9:7-10 we read the names of Haman’s sons:
‘Also, Parshandatha, Dalphon, Aspatha, Poratha, Adalia, Aridatha, Parmashta, Arisai, Aridai, and Vajezatha— the ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews—they killed; but they did not lay a hand on the plunder.’
On the Torah, in the original Hebrew, the list of the ten names of Haman’s sons contains three letters which, according to tradition, are written in smaller letters: tav, shin, zayin, whose numerical value in gematria is 707 (400+300+7). This is a hidden reference to the Jewish year (5)707.
What happened in 1946 or 5707?
After the end of the holocaust, the Nuremberg Trial took place. The International Military Tribunal (IMT) issued verdicts against Nazi leaders at Nuremberg, Germany. The Tribunal sentenced 12 important Nazi officials to death for crimes committed during the Nazi regime.
Ten prominent members of Nazi Germany’s political and military leadership were executed by hanging. Julius Streicher, head of Nazi propaganda, is said to have said derisively, before he was hanged: ‘Purim feast 1946’!

Esther would have prophesied about the future Amalekites and declared the King’s sentence on them – hanging!
Persia is the Iran of today
Iran is located in what was formerly Persia and unfortunately it seems that the anti-Semitic spirit that was in Haman is still there.
The name “Iran” derives from “Airyan,” a term signifying the land of the Aryans, used by the Iranian peoples themselves. This indigenous term is deeply rooted in the country’s ancient texts and Zoroastrian scriptures.

Who claimed to be part of the Aryan race, a special race? Hitler.
Iran is where the spiritual serpent’s head is located.
Iran has several terror proxies across the Middle East including: Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip, Shi’ite militias in Syria and Iraq, and the Houthis in Yemen.

Iran maintains nuclear facilities that are a threat to the entire world. However, today the United States and Israel have been working together to prevent the development of uranium enrichment technology for the construction of nuclear warheads. Iran is reportedly already very close to enriching uranium for nuclear warheads. Despite the efforts of the United Nations to prevent this process, Israel has evidence that Iran does not respect these laws.
In Jeremiah 49 we read about Elam, a region that was part of ancient Persia, present-day Iran. Let us pray prophetically against the spiritual system of darkness in Iran, according to God’s Word:
Jeremiah 49:35-39
‘“Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, The foremost of their might. Against Elam I will bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and scatter them toward all those winds; There shall be no nations where the outcasts of Elam will not go. For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies and before those who seek their life. I will bring disaster upon them, my fierce anger,’ says the Lord; ‘And I will send the sword after them Until I have consumed them. I will set My throne in Elam, and will destroy from there the king and the princes,’ says the Lord. ‘But it shall come to pass in the latter days: I will bring back the captives of Elam,’ says the Lord.” ‘
