Understanding the War in the Spiritual Realm

In the face of this war, we need to understand more of Israel’s biblical history to know how to position ourselves and how to pray.

The current war is not something new for Israel.

Israel has faced wars since “his” birth. And when I say that, I don’t mean 1948, but the birth of our father, Yakov (Jacob).

In the womb of his mother Rivka (Rebekah) there was already war between Yakov and Esav (Esau). Esav was someone who had no interest in the things of God. According to Hebrews 12:16 we see that he was immoral and unholy.

When Yakov was about to reencounter Esav, God changed his name to Israel, saying:

לֹ֤א יַעֲקֹב֙ יֵאָמֵ֥ר עוֹד֙ שִׁמְךָ֔ כִּ֖י אִם־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כִּֽי־שָׂרִ֧יתָ עִם־אֱלֹהִ֛ים וְעִם־אֲנָשִׁ֖ים וַתּוּכָֽל׃

My translation would be: Yakov will no longer be your name, but Israel because you have wrestled with God and with the people and you will prevail! (Genesis 32:28)

The Hebrew verb for wrestled also means contending, persisting, or a position of power, such as that of a prince.

The interesting thing is that in the Hebrew the verb prevail is used here in the future tense, as a promise to our people, that even if there are wars, we will prevail if we are in Him!

But going back to the brother of Yakov (Israel), named Esav (Esau), we see that his grandson was Amalek who gave birth to a people, who always attacked Israel from the rear:

“Remember what Amalek did to you on the way as you were coming out of Egypt, how he met you on the way and attacked your rear ranks, all the stragglers at your rear, when you were tired and weary; and he did not fear God. Therefore it shall be, when the Lord your God has given you rest from your enemies all around, in the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance, that you will blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. You shall not forget. Deuteronomy 25:17-19

God swore that there would be war against Amalek from generation to generation (Exodus 17:16). Many speak of peace, but God himself swore that there would be war against Amalek from generation to generation. He Himself commanded us to blot out the memory of Amalek from under the heavens.

It is very clear that the same evil spirit that was in Amalek is in Hamas. It is also the same spirit that in Persia declared our extermination through Haman (a descendant of the Amalekites). It is the same spirit that was in Hitler and is in all anti-Semites who do not accept the existence of Israel.

In fact, they battle against the God of Israel. And if God commanded us to blot out Amalek’s name and said He would wage war against him from generation to generation, will we stand idly by or cooperate with God?

But this battle must be won in the spiritual realm first. The same way Yakov did. He went to a secluded place, was alone, and wrestled with God. We must contend in prayer to prevail!

We must first confess the sins of our people and nation, who have not lived as a priestly people and nation, but have displeased God’s heart in many areas.

The very rave party that was stormed by Hamas was a wide-open door for the enemy to enter our country. Our young people, in addition to being drunk and drugged, are influenced by pagan Hindu culture in these satanic events.

In Exodus 17 we see that before Amalek attacked our people, we went through Massah and Merivah, that is, we were murmuring and rebelling against Moshe. But God had mercy on us, and when Moshe had his hands held by Aaron and Hur, Yoshua (Joshua) prevailed and overcame Amalek.

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

That is why it is so important that the remnant in both Israel and the nations unite in this “wrestling with God” so that we can march as one army to overcome the spiritual enemies who are rising up against the God of Israel.

Going back to Genesis 32, just before Yakov became Israel, the angels came to meet him:

So Yakov went on his way, and the angels of God met him. When Yakov saw them, he said, “This is God’s camp.” And he called the name of that place Machanaim. Genesis 32:1-2

The word machanaim means two camps or two armies, that is, the armies of God have joined Yakov’s army!

Let us remember that our God is called the Lord of hosts! Yeshua is our victorious warrior:

Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. Revelation 19.11

We need to activate the armies of heaven, but this with fasting and prayer, with the direction of our Prince of the Lord’s army (Joshua 5.15)!

Support Magen David Adom

Israel needs a strong Magen David Adom!

A horrible massacre of innocent people, cold blooded murder of babies infants and children, entire families kidnapped, paramedics and medical staffs killed on their way to save lives.

MDA is at the front line. In the battle fields, right in the face of danger under missile attacks and Hamas’s heavy artillery. We strive for contact, take care of the injured under fire. We arrive quickly to help the injured in each and every location.

In each Kibbutz that has suffered severe missile barrage and terrible slaughter – it was the MDA’s crews who went in, under fire, to help rescue the families and give life-saving medical treatments to the injured.

More than hundreds of injured people in every Kibbutz, hundreds of injured people in Sderot and Ofakim, people who were injured by the missile attacks in Ashkelon, more injured at the northern border and many many more.

Innumerable number of heartbreaking stories about people begging for their lives, and of critical care staff as well as paramedics risking their own lives and souls to get to them, and help them.

As they leave their families behind, their crying children and worried wives, MDA’s entire staff is heading out to protect civilians, protect our country, our homeland and nation.

It is not an easy mission. MDA’s helicopter crew came under fire while continuing to give medical treatment to injured victims. Ambulance crews moved forward towards injured people while facing live fire, and an MDA paramedic defended trapped injured victims until her final breath. These horrific situations are so many, too many.

We operate with great dedication, out of love for human beings, love for our country and a strong will to defend and save lives for 93 years now, through all of Israel’s wars as well as in the “Iron Swords War”!

We are here to protect you at any cost, we will be here tomorrow, we will be here the day after tomorrow, and all days after that until peace and quiet will be restored in Israel.

We need you. We need donations for ambulances and medical equipment, for protective equipment and bandaging equipment that will help us save lives.

You can be part of the rescue teams and help us save more and more lives in this difficult time, while Israel is at war.
