Worship - The Greatest Weapon in Spiritual Warfare
“And they cried out to one another, saying, ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory. And the foundations of the thresholds moved at the voice of the one crying, and the house was filled with smoke.” Isaiah 6:3,4
The basis of truth and righteousness is under the Throne of God, which is where it is proclaimed day and night, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts.” (Isaiah 6:3).
We must recognize that there are wars (physical and spiritual) when we stand to proclaim the holiness of God.
God has the basis of His Throne in Heaven, but He has chosen a dwelling place on Earth. Do you know where this place is? In you and me, to continually proclaim the holiness of Almighty God.
We are the House of God on Earth, and this house lives in war 24 hours a day, so that the holiness of God is installed and everyone sees the glory of the Lord established in our lives. God is Holy and He is a Warrior, the whole Earth is full of His Glory.
“But thou art holy, O thou that dwellest in the praises of Israel.” Psalm 22:3
The greatest weapon for war is to be always in worship day and night. There is no better powerful weapon than worship for spiritual warfare.
We must all learn about worship in order to win spiritual battles, because worship is a direct engagement with the Lord of hosts, and on the basis of His Throne of righteousness and truth, the holiness of the living God, who is the Lord of war, is proclaimed.
‘Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before Your face. Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O Lord , in the light of Your countenance.’ Psalms 89:14,15
‘Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. ‘ 2 Chronicles 20:22
WORSHIP AS A WEAPON OF DEFENSE – 1 Corinthians 12:28
‘And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. ‘
This passage is about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Let’s talk about one in particular – Varieties of Tongues, in another version it says “different kinds of tongues”. And what is speaking in other tongues, what is praying in tongues?
Praying in tongues is worshiping God in the Spirit.
‘For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. ‘ 1 Corinthians 14:2
Praying in tongues is speaking to God, because he who speaks in tongues does not speak to men, but to God. Speaking in tongues is not just praying in an unknown language, but talking to God, because no one understands what you say, but in spirit you are speaking to God. It is the moment that we can have a conversation with God from our spirit. When we want to talk to someone, don’t we greet him first? We must take the first step and start it!
Maybe you’ve even prayed in tongues, but it seems that nothing happened. When you speak in tongues, know that you are talking to God.
Praying in tongues is building ourselves up. When we pray in tongues, we begin to be filled, we feel robust, less vulnerable, because those who speak in tongues build themselves up.
‘But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, ‘ Jude 1:20
It’s like a car that needs fuel to function or our daily food so the body does not perish.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
Ephesians 6:10-18
Now let’s speak to God, and build our spirits up with this praise:
WORSHIPERS—A CLASS SOUGHT BY GOD
The Father seeks true worshipers who worship Him in spirit and in truth
John 4:23. ‘But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. ‘
Everyone can be momentary, temporary worshipers. However, when the crisis comes, only true worshippers stand firm. There is no other class of people in the Bible that God seeks: no Pastors, Evangelists, Teachers, Apostles, Prophets…
The heart rate of the worshiper beats at the same frequency as the Adored; There is a complicity. The heart of the worshiper is in line with the thoughts, feelings, strength, and grace of God. From Adam to the Apostles, only those who were worshippers were able to succeed.
You can be excellent at what you do, you can have whatever you want, and all of this can be appreciated, respected, and honored by God, but the Lord is looking for men and women who, regardless of anything, will never fail to give Him perfect praise, perfect worship.
WORSHIP BRINGS US INTO GOD’S PRESENCE
Worship brings us into the presence of God, and He Himself is looking after taking off our filthy garments and clothe us with garments of praise. But for that, there will be war. The Book of Habakkuk has three chapters. The first chapter begins with spiritual warfare, saying that God is a God of war, that he will not take the guilty for innocent, that he will come against the guilty like a whirlwind, and that he will pass over him like a cloud of wrath.
Habakkuk, called a leader of praise and worship, writes a book on spiritual warfare, and in the third chapter says:
“Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls—
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills.
To the Chief Musician. With my stringed instruments.”
Habakkuk 3:17-19
Habakkuk ends the book by saying that this song is to be played on a stringed instrument. He leads people to worship God with the prophetic words revealed in his book, when every kind of provision, the basics of our life, is lacking.
Israel lived off agropastoral activity and the prophet was saying that even if the country’s economy was bankrupt, he would still rejoice and rejoice in the God of hosts. What does that mean? It means that worship is the most powerful weapon for defeating the devil or any situation, even when your refrigerator is empty.
Together we will seek His presence:
Remember that within you, dwells the Lion of the tribe of Judah, who comes from the tribe of praise and is our great High Priest.
“There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Hebrews 4:9-16
WORSHIP AS A WEAPON OF ATTACK
PRIMARY WEAPON – The Name of YESHUA (Weapon of Attack – Philippians 2:9-11).
“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Yeshua’s name is an offensive weapon, that is, it serves to destroy the evil one. We must use this weapon on a daily basis to thwart the plans forged against His will. We dream and make plans to be successful, but things don’t always go the way we want. Yeshua’s name is a very powerful weapon to overcome the barriers of everyday life.
It is necessary that we never forget that we have in our favor the greatest name in this world – Yeshua.
SECOND WEAPON – The Word of God (Weapon of Attack – James 1:22-25).
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”
The Word of God was the weapon that Yeshua used the most in His ministry. This is a weapon that must be activated daily with faith, persistence, and authority. We must confess the verses according to the nature of the problem.
E.g.: If you had an argument with someone and an arrow of hatred was thrown, you may confess verse 12 of Proverbs 10 saying:
‘Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.’ So I declare that I love (name of the person).
The Word of God is a weapon that overcomes all lies, so we must know it in order to declare it constantly.
THIRD WEAPON – Praise (Weapon of Attack and Defense).
‘Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.’ Colossians 3:16-17
‘But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For You have been my defense And refuge in the day of my trouble.’
Psalm 59:16
When we praise, we are at the same time attacking problems and defending ourselves against them. Praise is a declaration and as such we have the power of the Word to make concrete what we confess. Therefore, praises must be in accordance with the Grace of God.
In addition, praise also strengthens our spirit, because when we sing a hymn of love, we express words of love and gratitude to God. These words cause our spirit to be strengthened in Yeshua.
If you are very sad, sing praise and God will pour joy into your heart. Praise should be a daily practice, for praise pleases God.
Ephesians 5:17-21
“Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God.”
FIFTH WEAPON – Angels (Support Weapon)
‘But to which of the angels has He ever said: “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool”? Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?’ Hebrews. 1:13,14
‘The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.’ Psalms 34:7
“No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.
In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.”
Psalms 91:10-12
Angels serve as a weapon of support, as they are at the service of the saints.
We must never leave home without declaring the role of angels in our lives, declaring that the Lord commands his angels to camp around us. The angels will only act after our intercession to God.
FIFTH WEAPON – Blood of Yeshua (Weapon of Victory)
Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Revelation 12:10,11
Satan is overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of his testimony.
Your testimony is the report you give about the things God has done for you. By testifying about God’s power, goodness, and love, you overcome the enemy. David testified:
‘Moreover David said, “The Lord , who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” 1 Samuel 17:37a
When you testify of how faithful the Lord is, you position yourself for your next victory. David also said:
‘Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!’
Psalm 34:8
When you partake of the covenant meal (supper) the Lord has prepared, you testify of what the Lord has done to you and are anointed to overcome the enemy!
‘You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.’ Psalms 23:5
Praise the Lord and cover yourself with His blood.
Conclusion: The word of God mentions that our weapons are spiritual and not physical. So, we encourage you to worship the Lord at all times in spirit and truth, pray in tongues to talk to Him and build up your spirit, always have a heart that is sincere, true and full of the love of Yeshua our Messiah.
In the sublime and Wonderful name of Yeshua haMashiach.
